Leandro Trossard is a great one-week punt for Gameweek 12, as Brighton take on a struggling Nottingham Forest side. Forest have the second leakiest defence in the league and Trossard is definitely capable of getting a haul. He should start and get good minutes under De Zerbi, but I wouldn’t transfer him in if you’re looking for a more long-term option. Manchester City and Chelsea are difficult games, so I’d look to bring in a different player such as Bukayo Saka (7.9m) or Phil Foden (8.3m) after Gameweek 12.
Bukayo Saka (7.9m) is a fantastic option from Gameweek 13 onwards, as Arsenal have great fixtures until the World Cup break, and he’s been in great form. 7.9m is great value and he is also on penalty duty.

James Maddison owners will be frustrated with his one-match suspension, after a last-minute dive against Bournemouth over the weekend. Many FPL managers are struggling to field 11 players for Gameweek 12 without taking a huge number of hits, so this suspension is a massive inconvenience for many of us. I don’t think there’s a great reason to keep him, as his fixtures start to get tougher, and you might as well take a punt on a player who plays in Gameweek 12. There are other fantastic options in his price range that are very desirable from now until the World Cup break.
Koulibaly appears to be susceptible to rotation under Graham Potter, and Chelsea’s fixtures aren’t particularly easy between Gameweeks 13-16. The Senegalese defender doesn’t have much goal threat and at 5.5m, you’re better off moving him on for an Arsenal or City defender in Gameweek 13.

If you traded Trent Alexander-Arnold out last week, bad luck, he’s already back from his little injury. His minutes are under threat, but expect him to be back starting very soon. You’ve probably got bigger concerns to worry about in defence with the Manchester City-Arsenal postponement that it really isn’t worth trading him out at the moment, especially with the potential he has to put up big scores.
Aleksandar Mitrovic has a great set of fixtures coming up, and he just keeps scoring goals. His injury concerns have gone away too, and at 6.7M, he is still great value. If you held him through his little injury issue, well done. Fulham’s reliance on him, plus the fact he is the designated penalty taker, means he is a great long-term hold either on field or on the bench depending on his fixtures – he hasn’t really let us down so far.

Diogo Dalot kept a clean sheet and scored bonus points on the weekend in United’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle, but he is still worth avoiding. With tough fixtures against Spurs and Chelsea next up, plus little output in terms of goals or assists so far this season, relying on him for clean sheets to boost his score is risky business – a Brighton defender (playing Forest) is probably a safer option.
Jarrod Bowen has been a very solid option so far this season, but with tough fixtures on the horizon, there are simply many better options elsewhere at the same price point. At around the 8.2m mark, you should be eyeing up the likes of Phil Foden, Mason Mount, and Bukayo Saka.

Ben Chilwell seems to be Graham Potter’s preferred option at left wing-back for now, with Marc Cucurella more likely to play minutes as a left centre-back. Given that, his very attacking role out on the left is perfect for scoring and assisting if he is starting regularly.
Keep monitoring how Potter rotates him in and out of the side because he will be a great option that will be relied upon for attacking output, especially with Reece James out of the team on the opposing flank.
Mason Mount has been one of the big beneficiaries of Potter’s arrival, and after a pretty barren run, has scored two and assisted two in his last two games. He does have a tough run of fixtures, but as we have seen from him in the past, he can put up massive attacking numbers when given license to attack the penalty area.

Mo Salah has silenced many doubters after his fantastic performance against Manchester City, and I think he’s the best captaincy option for Gameweek 12. Harry Kane isn’t far behind as he’s scored a goal in each of his last 5 games but has a more difficult fixture. If you think Nottingham Forest are going to concede a lot of goals, then Trossard may be a differential option.
Erling Haaland will be the popular captaincy option again against Brighton in Gameweek 13. However, Mo Salah has the easier fixture, and he has the potential to get a massive haul. If you’re wanting to take a risk, he would be my favourite choice.
James' team selection for FPL GW12 & 13
I brought in Lewis Dunk (4.6m) right before the deadline, after hearing Reece James (6.0m) was going to be out with injury for a decent while. He only managed to score 1 point, but I primarily transferred him in for the fixture against Nottingham Forest this week.
I’m really happy with the Vicente Guaita (4.5m) haul and Ivan Toney’s (7.4m) brace. The English striker continues to tick over and is proving to be one of the best penalty takers in Europe.
Gianluca Scamacca (6.8m) was close to scoring multiple times against Southampton and James Maddison (8.2m) has forced me to make a transfer.
I’ve transferred in Leandro Trossard (6.9m) for a one-week punt and Joe Gomez (4.5m) for the non-playing Leo Fuhr Hjelde (3.9m) for a -4 hit, so I can field 11 players. I’ll look to bring in Bukayo Saka (7.9m) before Gameweek 13.

Who should I captain in FPL Gameweek 12 & 13?
With Erling Haaland out of GW12, Harry Kane and Mo Salah loom as the best options, although Leandro Trossard is also an intriguing option. In GW13, Salah against Forest seems like the best choice.
Who should I transfer in FPL Gameweek 12 & 13?
Leandro Trossard is playing Forest this week, and is a great option to trade in to replace an Arsenal or Manchester City player not playing in GW12. For GW13, you should look to get Bukayo Saka into your team.
