How do I develop attacking midfielders in EA FC 24 Career mode?

There are a few key methods to develop attacking midfielders in EA FC 24. Firstly, they need to play senior minutes and get good match ratings in matches. Obviously, this needs to be balanced with your need to win games but getting them on the field as much as possible is vital.

If you can’t give them minutes, then consider sending them on loan. However, when loaning players, ensure that you are sending them to a club where they will play senior minutes, or you risk further stunting their growth.

Next, focus on doing well in training drills and earning good ratings. Generally, you should be able to play through each drill a few times, do them well, and then you should be able to subsequently simulate the sessions and earn a similar grade. However, if your grades start to fall, you should take control of your drills again to boost your ratings back up.

Lastly, and very importantly, is your player development plan. Development plans determine what kind of skillset you want your player to develop for their role in your team.

For attacking midfielders, there are five development paths to choose from:

Balanced – The all-round option that will see your attacking midfielders develop all their attributes with no real particular focus.

Advanced Playmaker – The advanced playmaker will look to be your team’s chief creator within the final third of the pitch. This means that passing attributes are a major focus of the advanced playmaker development plan. This will help to improve the vision, crossing, free kick accuracy, long passing, and short passing of your attacking midfielders, as well as their dribbling, composure, stamina, weak foot and attacking positioning.

Shadow Striker – The shadow striker looks to aggressively attack the penalty area from deep to get on the end of attacking moves. Their development plan will focus on improving their sprint speed, finishing, attacking positioning, long shots, volleys, agility, ball control, dribbling, stamina, and attacking work rate.

Dynamo – The dynamo is a high volume dribbler that uses their speed and skill to break down the opposition defence. Developing your player on this path will improve their sprint speed, acceleration, balance, reactions, ball control, dribbling, skill moves, short passing, interceptions, and stamina.

Attacking Midfielder – If you want to develop your CAM into a nicely balanced creator and dribbler, then attacking midfielder might be the best development plan for your player. This development plan will see them improve their sprint speed, acceleration, stamina, penalties, short passing, long passing, curve, vision, and ball control, as well as attacking work rate.

Simone Pafundi

Simone Pafundi was handed a senior Italy debut by Roberto Mancini in 2022, making him the youngest player to do so in over 100 years — at the time, he was 16. Now 17, and emerging into the Udinese senior team, Pafundi is one of the best young attacking midfielders in FC24.

He combines a nice blend of speed, dribbling ability, goal scoring attributes, and his skillset is headlined by a jaw-dropping 95 balance attribute. He is the player you want to manipulate his way through tight spaces in midfield, and develop from a 67 overall into an 86.

Désiré Doué

Stade Rennais’ Désiré Doué has become a bit of a phenomenon in France over the last 12 months, making a name for himself as one of the most aesthetically pleasing footballers to watch in Ligue 1. That is reflected in FC24, with 4 star skills and 80 dribbling headlining his attributes as a 71 overall player.

With speed attributes in the high 70s and a 73 short passing attribute, he ticks most of the boxes despite his 71 rating, and projects to be one of the best attacking midfielders in the game once he reaches his ceiling of 86. He is a more expensive version of Pafundi, with a slightly higher baseline to start with.

Tom Bischof

A long-time highly-rated youth international with Germany, Tom Bischof is now starting to work his way into the Hoffenheim senior set-up. The 18-year-old is not the most physical gifted player in FC24, but is a high value one.

At €2.4 million market value, he is one to pick up if you are looking for an attacking midfielder with good creative instincts, solid dribbling foundations, and the ability to grow from a 66 overall into an 86 overall player.

Bilal El Khannouss

Bilal El Khannouss may only start at a 71 overall rating, but his in-game stats look extremely good before you even develop him into the finished, 86 overall product. He is not super quick, but has a decent burst off the line with 76 acceleration.

Most importantly though: 79 ball control, 76 dribbling, 77 short passing, 84 agility and 79 balance. These are the fundamentals you can build up into becoming one of the dominant central creators in the game.

Rayan Cherki

If you haven’t heard about Rayan Cherki by now, chances are you’ve been living under a rock. If you have €12 million to spend, then he is the perfect attacking midfielder to sign to kickstart your career mode save.

5 star skills, 5 star weak foot, 87 dribbling, 79 ball control, 84 balance, 83 agility… with a 75 overall he is already an exceptional dribbling threat in game. Once maxed out to 86 overall, he will be up there with the best dribblers in the game. If you have the money… just get him.

Claudio Echeverri

If you are after a low-cost project signing, then Claudio Echeverri might be the best option for you. Valued at just 1.8m, Echeverri is part of a new wave of super Argentinian super talents, and his real life quality is reflected well in FC24.

He is quicker than most of the other options on this list, with 84 acceleration and 75 sprint speed, to go with 86 agility and balance. But he comes from a lower base and will need to further round out other parts of his game, with his 64 overall rating able to reach an eventual 85.

Bruno Fernandes, Martin Ødegaard, Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz and James Maddison are the highest-rated attacking midfielders in EA FC 24 Career Mode.

Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz are the best young attacking midfielders in EA FC 24, followed by the likes of Rayan Cherki, Désiré Doué and Bilal El Khannouss.
