Alexander Isak is the Rolls Royce of quality strikers in Football Manager 2022 that is not already playing for one of the traditional big clubs (with no disrespect intended to Real Sociedad fans).
He has all the attributes needed for a quality striker. He is tall, mobile, has decent heading, excellent technical and finishing attributes, and solid work rate and off the ball movement. He is the prototypical advanced forward in FM.
The main problem? Sociedad are unlikely to sell him for much less than his €90 million release clause, let alone half that, meaning unless you gut your team or start a save with one of the big clubs, it might be a difficult move to pull off.

João Pedro is a good option to target when you first start your save, but he could be an even better target after the first season. Keep an eye on Watford’s chances of being relegated, and look to swoop on him if they do drop into the Championship.
With that, you should be able to get a solid discount on Watford’s day one demands of close to €60 million euros for the Brazilian striker.
If you can get him, putting good starting minutes into him should reap major dividends. He can play anywhere across the front line and attacking midfield, with a skillset underpinned by good technical attributes that should carry him as the physical side of his game develops.

Sassuolo are a superb hunting ground for young, high potential strikers. Alongside Gianluca Scamacca, Giacomo Raspadori is a great option to lead the line for your club.
Raspadori is a very different player to his team-mate though. Miniature in comparison to Scamacca, Raspadori relies on his speed, movement and technical qualities to effect games, but he is nonetheless equally effective.
He also comes with the added bonus of having the ability to function as an attacking midfielder or on either wing. Operating out wide, his ability to play well with either foot is an added bonus, allowing him to play a variety of roles.
Raspadori will set you back €25-30 million but he is undoubtedly one of the best set-and-forget striker options in the game.

After a well-deserved healthy buff in FM’s winter update after a strong first half of the season in Serie A with Sassuolo, Gianluca Scamacca looks like a prime target to lead the line for Europe-chasing teams.
The Sassuolo striker blends high level physical attributes with his height, heading, and strong finishing attribute to give his manager the option of playing him optimally as a complete forward or target forward. And with these key attributes developing further as you continue through your save, expect him to be one of the premiere forwards by some time around the third season of your save.
With an asking price somewhere around €15 million to snare him from Sassuolo, he is priced quite reasonably for a striker with high upside as well. He should have fairly affordable wage demands which should also help to make him an affordable target, though as always this will depend on what kind of club you are managing.
WHAT ARE FOOTBALL MANAGER WONDERKIDS?
Wonderkid is a cliché term that’s synonymous with Football Manager. They’re young prospects – usually aged 16 to 18 – that have elite-level potential in the game. Freddy Adu is a prominent example for older managers, while Youssoufa Moukoko is a current case. They’re the superstar youngsters that are must-buys on every save.
But it’s also subjective. A wonderkid at Accrington Stanley is completely different to a wonderkid at Manchester City. Essentially, the surroundings dictate the status.
WHAT MAKES A GOOD STRIKER IN FOOTBALL MANAGER 2022?
The ideal striker is a complete one – an athletic players that can hold and link play, create chances for himself and others, run in behind defences, compete in the air, and finish clinically.
Strikers of that ilk are extremely rare. Therefore, you need a striker that fits your style. If you want him to stretch defences, you need someone with speed; if you want him to finish in the box, you need someone with strong composure and finishing; if you want a target striker, you want someone who are talented dribblers and passers.
HOW TO DEVELOP YOUNG STRIKERS IN FOOTBALL MANAGER 2022?
As always, pathways are paramount. You have to make sure that your youngsters have access to meaningful minutes at the appropriate levels. If you have a first-team ready talent, phase him into the team gradually, during pre-season ideally.
If your prospect needs a bit more polishing, the loan system is a valuable tool. But pathways to senior level minutes are key. Assess your youngsters on a case-by-case basis, decide what they need, and enact your decision.
HOW TO FIND THE BEST STRIKERS IN FOOTBALL MANAGER 2022?
You can do so by utilising the player search tool, which enables you to specify the certain variables you’re looking for in your player – from age to specific attributes.
Make the most of your scouts, too. Send them to scout nations (rather than regions/contintents) for the best young strikers by defining their criteria – specifying under-23, four-start potential, etc. Alternatively, just scour the Scouted Football website!
