Guillaume Restes

Toulouse’s Guillaume Restes is one of FC25’s most improved young goalkeepers from last year’s game, with a starting overall of 78 – up from 71 in FC24. With that rise in prominence has come a steep jump in price: his market value now sits at a weighty €28m, and with a contract that runs until 2028, it might be tough to get him for a reasonable fee.

That investment will buy you a ton of potential, though. Restes potential overall is 88, meaning he can grow into one of the game’s best goalkeepers. And with 80 kicking and 80 reflexes to start, this is a purchase for those looking to build a modern, ball-playing team that’s future-proofed for years.

Anatoliy Trubin

Ukraine’s Anatoliy Trubin moved from Shakhtar Donetsk to Benfica last summer. He battled Andriy Lunin for Ukraine’s number one shirt this summer, making two appearances at the EUROs.

Trubin’s starting overall is 78 and his potential is 86, so he doesn’t have quite as much space to grow as a player like Restes, but will still set you up for the future. At 6’6”, Trubin is a big figure and a capable shot-stopper with excellent positioning of 84 and reflexes at 82.

Dennis Seimen

Unlike the first two names on this list, Dennis Seimen is still early in his development. With a current overall of just 63, Seimen is turning heads for his performances for Stuttgart II and Germany’s youth teams, and is considered among the country’s brightest goalkeeping talents.

In FC25, his potential overall is 84 – but at just 18, this is a purchase for those managers looking for a project goalkeeper, or someone to grow alongside an established number one.

James Trafford

James Trafford is a name most players will be familiar with already, both for his solid potential in last year’s game and for his tricky first season as a Premier League player.

His kicking is just 69, reflecting his troubles playing out of the back last season, but 73 diving and 75 reflexes make him an agile shot stopper. Picking up a 84 potential player for anything less than his release clause of €12.6m should not be sniffed at, but he will need some game time to grow.

Jonas Urbig

Another young German goalkeeper, Jonas Urbig is slightly ahead of Dennis Seimen in his career. His FC25 profile reflects that: his overall rating is 73 already, and will likely improve in the live game as he’s started this season as FC Köln’s number one goalkeeper.

Like Seimen, Urbig’s overall potential is 84. Unlike Seimen, his strengths are in diving, positioning and reflexes, meaning he might not scale so well for a team looking to build play from the back. But he’s a match-ready shot stopper, meaning he’s slightly more expensive than his contemporary with a market value of €6m. Pick depending on style!

Bart Verbruggen

Another familiar name, Bart Verbruggen starts another FC game amongst our favourite young goalkeepers. An eye-catching first season in the Premier League has established Verbruggen as one of the most exciting young goalkeepers in the world and it’s easy to forget he’s still just 21.

A strong passer with standout attributes in 81 reflexes and 78 diving, Verbruggen is ready to play now. His potential being only 84 – one less than FC24 – feels a tad harsh, but he’ll still be additive to most teams. With a 76 starting overall, he requires much less of an investment in time and effort.
