Best football boots to buy in the 2022/23 season

October 17, 2022
The football season has returned and depending on what league you follow, we’re a few games deep into it. With the new term comes a whole host of arrivals to feast your eyes on: whether it’s new kits, new players or new chaotic moments.
Particularly exciting is the sight of of newly released boots finally on the pitch. The new season brings the big brands out to play, and each dropped new colourways and silhouettes to adorn the best players in the world.
These are the top five boots dropped for the new 2022/2023 season.
OUR LISTS OF THE BEST YOUNG TALENTS
5. PUMA Future Z 1.4
PUMA recently made waves in the boot world by bringing Neymar on as one of their stars, showing a commitment to becoming the best and keeping up with top dogs, Nike and Adidas. The new Future colourway, as part of the Fastest Pack, pushes further in this direction.
The colourway features a delightful midnight blue upper and flashes of ‘fizzy light’ throughout. We’ve witnessed the Brazilian star tease these on feet and you’ll probably see all of PUMA’s main stars run them out at any given weekend.

4. Adidas Copa Sense / Shadowportal Pack
The Copa Sense remains one of Adidas’ main silos and with good reason: it’s a strange looking boot, but one that grows on you until you can’t help but adore it. With the new ‘Shadowportal’ pack, the Copa Sense gets (another) blackout style makeover.
With an entirely black upper and splashes of red on the heel counter and tongue, this boot looks as good on the pitch as it does on your screen. Trust us.
3. Adidas F50 Adizero / 2014 Battlepack Remake
Following on from an earlier 2022 release inspired by the 2014 pack, the F50 Adizero makes another return, this time in the iconic Battlepack colourway first seen in 2014.
This remake is like-for-like, with the silo riding on an X soleplate. Combining modern tech with classic, this is the ultimate speed boot ready to take to the pitch and bring on that nostalgia.
2. Adidas X / Speedportal Pack
So, we’ve had the Shadowportal Pack and now we’ve got the Speedportal Pack, which essentially takes the splashes of colour on the former and inverts them. With this Adidas X, we see a striking green as the main colour with black accents giving it a sleek finish.
Although we love this boot, we can’t say the same for Lyon fans, who actually protested against their players wearing it due to the colour being awfully similar to that of their bitter rivals, Saint-Étienne.
1. Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly & Vapor / The Lucent Pack
The number one spot goes to the legendary Nike Mercurial, this time an Air Zoom edition. Air Zoom has been a thing at the Swoosh for a long time, so this isn’t new – but the execution of design on this specific pack is wonderful.
The official colourway is down as ‘Yellow Glow/Sunset Stroke’ which sounds beautifully exotic. With this combination of summer vibe colours and the Zoom branding returning to the inside upper, this boot is a winner. The added Air Zoom tech to the Mercurial turns it from a beast to an absolute monster of a boot.
Look out for this across every league in the world, it’ll be popular.

We think the Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly & Vapor pack are the best boots to buy for the current season, but Adidas have produced a range of good boots too. Puma’s Future Z series are a nicer alternative as well.
